Special in Leiden

Leiden is known for the Corpus and the Hortus Botanicus. At the Corpus you get a complete journey through the body of man. Both interesting for adults and children.

Hortus Botanicus Leiden is the oldest botanical garden in the Netherlands. This garden is built in the year 1590 and in the meantime so already more than 400 years old! The Hortus Botanicus has been extended to the green heart of Leiden in this 400 year.

The oldest part of the Hortus is the present front garden. The front garden has been redecorated with planting and a greenhouse construction: the Winter garden. One of the oldest plants to be found in the Hortus Botanicus is the golden rain and the tulip tree. In the greenhouses of the Hortus, several important collections are maintained, including carnivorous plants, tropical crops, orchids and the Victoria amazonica.

What else is recommended when visiting Leiden; A canal Cruise! Very nice to see the city in a different way. Golden Tulip and Tulip Inn Leiden Centre also offers a round trip arrangement.

Outings nearby

For a little more excitement and amusement of children, Duinrell is a must. Duinrell is a 20-minute drive from the hotel and has 40 top attractions and 16 unique water slides in the tiki pool. In short, one of the few amusement parks in the Randstad. Furthermore, amusement park Drievliet is also nice.

Popular cities

The two popular cities around Leiden are Amsterdam & Delft. Two totally different cities, but for lovers of culture both real touches! Delft is known for its historic Old town, its canals and of course the world-famous ‘ Delftware ‘. Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and is known for being a free city, where everyone is welcome.
